Elite Airways is returning to Melbourne Orlando International Airport for the first time since May 2019, offering flights to the Northeast.
“They have done such a terrific job on the space side of things. And the business economy’s really booming in Melbourne," Elite Airways President John Pearsall said, referring to Brevard County.
"We believe it's a terrific time to increase the service out of the Melbourne airport and offer new nonstop destinations to the new people that have just arrived in the area, both on the business side and also on the leisure side," Pearsall said.
Starting July 1, Elite will offer twice-weekly nonstop service from Melbourne to White Plains, New York, with continuing service to Portland, Maine.
In a news release, Mark Busalacchi, the Melbourne airport's director of marketing and business development, called the announcement "great news that connects MLB’s largest unserved market, the greater New York City area, to Central Florida via our coastal gateway."
Passengers who stop in White Plains can also access Elite’s daily flights to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, Massachusetts.
Elite also announced twice-weekly nonstop service from Melbourne to Newark, New Jersey, starting Sept. 10.
“There's a lot of call for some of the destinations that we put in starting in July. And that's just the first wave of them — we're going to have some additional destinations after that," Pearsall said.

Thank you for being an Elite Airways customer. Since the start of our service in Vero Beach in December 2015, we've safely flown thousands of passengers each year and contributed to unprecedented airport and economic growth in the area. We are proud of our achievements and couldn’t have done it without your support.
We have important news affecting our service at VRB:
The City of Vero Beach has undertaken a multi-year capital improvement project at the Vero Beach Airport that includes the rehabilitation of runway 12R-30L—the runway that Elite Airways uses for takeoffs and landings. This particular construction project is estimated to begin in September and will hopefully conclude by March 2022.
How does this affect Elite Airways flights?
If you have purchased a ticket for an upcoming flight in/out of VRB: there are no changes to your itinerary. We plan to continue our existing service to Newark and Portland from Vero Beach until September 6th as scheduled.
For new VRB bookings after September 6th: we are relocating our fall/winter scheduled service to Orlando-Melbourne Airport (MLB), north of Vero located between I-95 and Route 1 in Melbourne.
Today, we've also launched new twice-weekly service from Melbourne to White Plains NY with continuing service to Portland ME starting July 1st.
