Florida Today: Elite Airways to resume Melbourne flights to New York and New Jersey; future growth planned

Release Date: 04-Jun-2021

By Rick Neale, Florida Today

Elite Airways is returning to Melbourne Orlando International Airport for the first time since May 2019, offering flights to the Northeast.

“They have done such a terrific job on the space side of things. And the business economy’s really booming in Melbourne," Elite Airways President John Pearsall said, referring to Brevard County.

"We believe it's a terrific time to increase the service out of the Melbourne airport and offer new nonstop destinations to the new people that have just arrived in the area, both on the business side and also on the leisure side," Pearsall said.

Starting July 1, Elite will offer twice-weekly nonstop service from Melbourne to White Plains, New York, with continuing service to Portland, Maine.

In a news release, Mark Busalacchi, the Melbourne airport's director of marketing and business development, called the announcement "great news that connects MLB’s largest unserved market, the greater New York City area, to Central Florida via our coastal gateway."

Passengers who stop in White Plains can also access Elite’s daily flights to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, Massachusetts.

Elite also announced twice-weekly nonstop service from Melbourne to Newark, New Jersey, starting Sept. 10.

“There's a lot of call for some of the destinations that we put in starting in July. And that's just the first wave of them — we're going to have some additional destinations after that," Pearsall said.

Coronavirus update: what we’re doing to keep passengers and employees safe

Release Date: 23-Mar-2020

At Elite Airways, passenger safety and comfort are top imperatives. While airline travel restrictions may still be active in several states we fly to, we understand you may have questions about future travel and steps we’re taking to prioritize the safety of our passengers and employees.

The following information may be helpful when making decisions about upcoming travel on Elite Airways. You may also contact us online or at 877-393-2510. Our team is monitoring the situation closely and will update this page as needed.

Things to know before you fly:

Elite Airways has no ticketing change fees. Passengers may rebook a flight for any reason up to 24 hours in advance at 877-393-2510 with no change fees or penalties. If you wish to cancel altogether, you may do so without any cancellation fees up to 24 hours prior to departure and receive a credit valid on Elite Airways for travel up to one year from the original booking date.

Passengers on all Elite Airways flights are required to bring and wear face-masks during check-in, during the flight, and while deplaning (note: children under the age of two are exempt). The CDC also states that if you are eligible, get fully vaccinated before you fly. Wait 2 weeks after getting your second vaccine dose to travel—it takes time for your body to build protection after any vaccination. In addition, you may wish to get tested 1-3 days before you travel. Keep a copy of your test results with you during travel in case you are asked for them. These guidelines are subject to change.

Do NOT travel if you test positive. If you or someone in your household exhibits respiratory symptoms prior to a scheduled flight, please take all necessary travel precautions as recommended by the CDC -- or call us if you wish to make a change. Likewise, Elite Airways employees are also asked to use the utmost care when reporting for work.

If air-travel is affected by new restrictions or if a flight is delayed or cancelled for any reason, we will immediately notify affected passengers. We also recommend checking the Flight Status page on our website along with flight boards at the airport to ensure an on-time departure is planned.

While on board Elite Airways:

Passengers on all Elite Airways flights are required to bring and wear face-masks during check-in, during the flight, and while deplaning (note: children under the age of two are exempt). These guidelines are subject to change.

In addition, we’ve always maintained robust cleaning processes on our aircraft and use disinfectants that are effective against viruses. Between flights we wipe down tray tables and high-contact surfaces with disinfectants. Nightly, the aircraft are additionally cleaned with disinfectants. We have also placed extra sanitizing wipes on board for passenger use and convenience.

Should you experience any concerns or respiratory symptoms while on board, please notify a crew member immediately. Our team is expertly trained to handle situations of all kinds and can provide assistance or simply help reseat a passenger if needed. By working together, we can help minimize the risks while ensuring the safety and comfort of everyone on board.
